Lookback: January 2024

Isn’t it funny, Janury felt like it lasted an absolute bloody lifetime, everyone was like “oh is January 4 million days long or what” and yet sitting here, in the middle of Febraury I can barely remember it.

What the heck did I get up to?

I started the process of moving out of my flat, so that was a pretty big deal and it took up a lot of my time and brain space. I spent some time refelcting on 2023 through Year Compass(im an obsessive fan).  I made a plan for myself for 2024 including a few key goals and how I’m going to achieve them - a goal without a plan is just a dream.

I took lots of photos, I got a new to me camera in November last year and I was desperate to take it out for a test spin. We drove over the bridge out to St Monans ( I need to go back!) and across to the West for a walk near Loch Earn. I love exploring new places and taking my camera along for the ride. It’s got a bit difficult towards the end of Jan and for most of February just because of moving, but come March I will be back out in the wild, film in hand! I went across to Crammond Island and over to Portobello for the day

I started a writing course in January and met some cool writers, we’ve been working on outlines, point of view, development. It really has been fun, and to have a night each week focusing on the basics of writing has really helped me to developed my other pieces. I also went to the Edinburgh Writer’s Retreat hosted by WritersHQ and hosted at Tribe Porty in Portobello. The one day writers’s retreat has now become a staple of my month, I always get so much done whilst surrounded by other passionate writers.

I went to the gym like 6 times or something, which is a new record for me, I’m actually getting to the stage where I enjoy it! I sort of know what I’m doing, I’m sort of almost getting it done, and at times I feel like I can feel the difference in my body.

And that was the lifetime that was January 2024…

Little by little, we’ll get there.
