Monday night writers group - prompt

Every two weeks I host a wee Women’s writing group in Edinburgh. We welcome all kinds of writers, from fantasy novelists, to those who haven’t written in years, to journalists and poets. It’s an absolute highlight of my week.

Everyone is welcome to work on their own writing projects or use the prompts I share on the evening. I really enjoy curating and crafting creative writing prompts and it’s awesome to see or hear what people have written in response. We also have a word of the week!

Prompt 1

A woman sat on a bench at a park

Who is the person? What kind of park is it? Why are they there? What are they thinking/feeling? What’s the weather like? Where have they been? Is it a weekend or weekday? Are they waiting? Where are they going? Who is around?

Are you the driver? The passenger? One of the people playing basketball? Where are you? Why are you there? Where are you going?

Prompt 3 - letter writing

Imagine you're a being or alien on another planet. Write a letter to someone on earth explaining you're coming to visit to make a new friend
