Photography: A piece of Scotland in your home

The prints arrived!

Remember I wrote about my favourite photographs (read here) and that I had been getting lots of test prints in different sizes and papers? Well, I settled on Fuji Crystal DP II paper from Whitewall and they look so good! They almost look like oil paintings, the colours are so rich. All four photos were taken with Kodak UltraMax 400 35mm Film on a Nikon F65, a 35mm film SLR camera. So so pleased with how they turned out!

And now you can now have a piece of Scotland in your home! Find them avaliable to buy here. Each print has a translucent film on the front that you can peel off which protects the print from dust until you frame it.

You might know that I’ve been taking photographs since college. I learned how to use film, process the negatives, develop the film, print them at different sizes and tones in the darkroom, I still have the photos from that time, tucked away in a wee folder on top of my wardrobe. It was so fun to learn about the process from start to finish.

One of the reasons why I love photography and continue to take photographys is because it allows me to capture moments that I notice that to me, are other worldly and that I want to hold onto.

I am so pleased with how they turned out. I’m glad I took the time to really find the paper and size that suited the print.

Even though I’ve been taking photographs for a long time, I’ve never really done anything with them before, other than occasionally put them online. But every photographer will tell you that there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your photo framed on the wall and that you should get them printed, it’s almost an obligation! So I’m keen to continue getting my favourite photographs printed and learning more and more about the process. Of course it would be amazing to print them myself but I think that is a while away yet! I’ve got so many other photos that I’d love to get printed so watch this space. In the meantime check out my ETSY shop here.

Thanks for reading and following along with my wee photography journey,

Dominique
